Receive mod on Cobra 29ltd WXNWBT
Hi all...
I have a new Cobra 29ltd WXNWBT with the RFX75 and TRB-3 Echo and I'm wanting to do this Schottky receive mod to it. I've heard good things about it and that it improves the receive 1-2 S units and quiets the radio a lot. I've ordered the 2sc2999 High Gain, Low Noise Transistor and 1N6263 Schottky Barrier Diodes and I wanting to confirm the locations of the parts I need to replace on my pcb.
This is what I come up with...
TR7 is the receive rf amp that gets replaced with the 2sc2999 transistor making the receive more sensitive.
AM detector D4 and D6 get replaced with the 1N6263 Schottky Barrier Diodes as does D7 of the ANL/NB circuit.
I was wondering if anyone here could confirm that this is correct.
Thanks!

Thanks much! Would hate to do the wrong parts and I'm fairly new to this but am a very fast learner.

All I could find for a 2sc2999 was a MPSH10. Have you heard anything about this replacement tran?

You're welcome...glad I could help.
I had posted a link directly to them until I was told I couldn't post links. What's up with that?

Hey guys the number of posts required before you can post links or pictures is set at a certain number for a reason....read the rules you agreed to when you joined. They're there for a reason.

First of all who ever reads those rules?
I've modded more forums in my days than I can remember and I knew that then as well as I do now. All I asked was the logical reasoning behind this "rule". In the time it took you to post what you did you could have answered my question.
I'm not one that takes kindly to being insulted and if the owners of this forum don't want me around because of that, I have no problem leaving.
Simple as that.

DS, When I was searching for info on Cobra 29 mods I remember reading an old thread about how a minimum post count was used as an anti-spam measure.deerslayer50 wrote:First of all who ever reads those rules?

The admins made the 10 post count required to post pics, and I believe links also, because the forum was having problems with people registering to just post offensive stuff. That's the explanation I've read that they've posted in threads where other newer members were wondering why they couldn't post something.

Well I could post 10 posts in about 2 minutes. Truth is, it encourages spam if you think about it.
Dealing with all the "bad people' is part of having forums and making up lame rules is futile and only hurts the "good people".
You can't stop them if they have their mind made up to cause trouble and with dynamic IP addresses (most of them are) you can't even ban them. Not without banning entire IP blocks and taking a large number of innocent people out in the process.
Bottom line is this rule is useless and serves no real purpose except to "punish" so to speak all the good people here cuz you can't stop the bad ones if they are intent on causing problems.

That may be but you agreed to their rules, just the same as I did, when registering. I don't like all the rules or agree with them all either but they are what they are and it's not our forum. The person that owns it and pays the bills gets to make the rules which is the way it is everywhere if you think about it. I follow them whether I like them or not as I choose to participate here. It's much more friendly ans informative than many CB forums. That's all I have to say about it. It's not place to say anything really as I'm just an average forum user. All I meant to do was pass some info along about their rule.
