New antenna works when amp is off........

in my mobile setup. But when the amp is on it stops receiving after I transmit one time. If I turn the amp off the signal comes back clear and loud. Then when I turn the amp back on it still receives until I transmit then it goes almost silent and my speaker sounds like an AM radio station at night with wierd sounds.

But with my other antenna it does not do this ever. I switch them back and forth testing this. With the amp on I transmit with the 102" whip and it works fine. It's the new Sirio 5000 that seems to be causing this. It is a magnet mount vs my 102" is hard mounted.

I have tested my swr with a good meter and it is flat with the 102" and under 1.4 with the Sirio. I even put a new pl 259 on the Sirio but that didn't help.

Any suggestions?

Seems like the rf sensing circuit that keys the relay in the amp is hanging up when using one antenna and not the other.

Grounding issues can definitely make the relay in an amp "stick". Sometimes mag mounts don't provide a good ground for the antenna. What kind of vehicle and where on the vehicle did you place the antenna?
