In short, a dipole is a half wavelength antenna that is fed in the center. They are most commonly made out of wire and typically (bot not always) laid out horizontally between two supports (trees or whatever you have for support). Smaller ones used on higher frequencies can be supported with a single central support.
The word "dipole" literally means "two poles". The poles refer to the sections on either side of the feedpoint.
The half wavelength dipole is the antenna for which all other antennas are compared, it even has its own decibel reference (dBd, or decibels compared to a dipole).

I honestly don't think anyone here minds answering questions.
Remember tho...it's when you don't ask that 'let's the smoke' out of your equipment.
We all gotta learn.

Mine is horizontal but after watching the video I may try an invert, just need to cypher the upright height.Bombero wrote:Hey bulldog66...

What I mean is minimum height for the pole with the ends hooked to the rooftop.

If you "Google" inverted v antennas you will get a bunch of calculators to help with the dimensions. The center feed has to be higher so the impedance becomes somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 ohms.
