Picked up an Alpha 76 3 8874. Anyway my question is it has one tube disconnected. The cathode is unhooked and there have been pins cut off the tube. Would imagine was heater pins. Question is will it work with the one tube removed from the circuit? Hope can at least power it up and see if high voltage supply is OK. Moving ahead to run power, set up for 220. So anyway Thanks in advance.

Well looking through the paperwork I found the notes. The heater and screen pins were cut and sealed on the bad tube and left in place so the forced air cooling would work and the amp is supposed to operate at the 1 KW level. I have powered it up in stand by mode. I will leave heater voltage on it a while to let the tubes getter then will apply high voltage and see what happens.

Check to make sure they are all 3 8874 (3cx400a7) tubes, I've read of a mod to replace the bad 3 8874's with 2 4CX800's but it didn't have a lot of details.

3's
